Do you need a DMC or a production company?
These are two different jobs and confusing them costs time. A DMC (destination management company) handles the destination side: hotels, transfers, visas, excursions, restaurant bookings, guest logistics. A production company handles what happens in the room: the stage, the LED screens, the lighting, the sound, the exhibition stand, the cameras and the live stream. Most events in a foreign country need both, but they are rarely the same supplier — and the technical side is the one that decides whether the event looks and sounds the way you promised your client.
What we are, and what we are not
Genc Media Events is a technical production company based in Baku, Azerbaijan. We are not a DMC: we do not book hotels, arrange transfers or handle visas, and we will tell you so rather than subcontract it badly. What we do is build and run the technical side of an event — truss stages, LED screens, lighting, sound and simultaneous interpretation, exhibition and congress stands, multi-camera coverage and live streaming — on our own equipment, with our own crew. If you already work with a DMC in Azerbaijan, we work alongside them; several of our projects have run exactly that way.
What international organisers should know about Azerbaijan
A few things regularly surprise teams planning their first event here. Venue rules vary widely: each venue has its own build-up window, rigging points and power limits, and these decide what a stage can be — which is why a site survey comes before any technical proposal. Aerial filming requires an official drone licence; filming without one is a legal risk and can make the footage unusable. Open-air sites need municipal permissions that are separate from the venue agreement. And Baku's main venues fill up around the international event calendar, so dates move faster than many teams expect.

The process is the same whether you are the end client or the agency: a brief, then a site survey, then a technical proposal with load calculations, then delivery and handover. We respond to a brief within one to two working days. Communication runs in English, Russian or Turkish as you prefer. International project experience
The Turan Tekstil 2025 exhibition at Passage 1901 brought together companies from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkey; the media planning and coverage were ours. The International Neurological Congress at the Radisson hotel in Baku, organised by OMP Academy, ran with international scientific delegates and we delivered the stand and media coverage. At Best Bearings Company's corporate event at the Marriott Boulevard we provided interpretation for international guests alongside the brandwall and media production.
Getting started
Send us the date, the city, the venue if it is already chosen, the expected number of delegates and what the event has to achieve. That is enough for a first response. If the venue is not yet chosen we can shortlist options and inspect them with you — venue sourcing is a service we offer separately from production, so you are not obliged to book the whole package to use it.

What permits does an event in Azerbaijan need?+
It depends on the venue and format. Each venue has its own build-up rules; open-air sites need municipal permissions separate from the venue agreement; and aerial filming needs an official drone licence. As the local party we handle these processes.
Can we ship our own equipment into Azerbaijan?+
It is possible but rarely worth it: customs clearance adds time and cost, and our own inventory already covers truss, LED, lighting, sound and cameras. We will tell you honestly if something genuinely has to come with you.
How early should we start planning?+
As early as the date is known. Baku's main venues fill around the international event calendar, and the venue determines the technical design — so a confirmed date is what lets everything else be planned properly.
